Clancy Brown

Clancy Brown is best known as the bad-ass Kurgan in the 1986 film, The Highlander.
We first meet The Kurgan as he slams a Queen tape into his car's cassette player and wheels his way into New York City to chop some heads. I get chills when Clancy delivers the line, "I know his name."  Watch this scene at:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLvnyOkOEOs
Here's a YouTube video of Clancy handling his sword and some Candy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj8ws6u19n4&feature=related (It's in Italian, but you'll get what's going on.)
Clancy has played "softer" roles, such as that of Brother Justin Crowe in HBO's Carnivale, and I suppose he's okay this way....
... Nah.   This is better:

Andre Birleanu

Known as the "Sexy Russian" on America's Most Smartest Modelthe short-lived, laughably freakish reality-contest show,  Andre Birleanu is one of a series of Russian men that I'd probably be boy crazy enough to emigrate for.
He was born in Moscow, but grew up in Romania, and he speaks several languages fluently. Ironically, Russian isn't one of them, according to Wikipedia. On the show, Andre was fond of shouting, "Soviet!" apropos of nothing, and his most memorable line was, "Everyone wants to be us, bro. We are models!"
Andre has apparently made a career of ripping off his shirt unexpectedly (not that anyone minds that he does).

Soviet!

If you can stand the kaleidoscopic effects, you'll enjoy glimpses of Andre in this video by Ercola, featuring Daniella:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wOr5Lw_MOM&ob=av3e

Brian Moss

In the 1980s, Brian Moss was the owner of New York City's Better Bodies gym, and in July of 1988, he posed for a Playgirl magazine centerfold.
If you've read the previous post about Tim Cappello, you're probably thinking, "Yet another oily man?"  I guess, in the '80s, muscle men had only recently discovered that a sheen accentuated their definition, and they may have gone overboard, grease-wise.
Okay, Brian.  Now you're just showing off.
Ahem.  Yes, well...

Tim Cappello

Tim Cappello is a body-building saxophone player who became famous as the Greased-Up Sax Man in the 1987 movie, The Lost Boys. Early in the film, the protagonist attends a concert on the beach, where Tim plays and sings, "I Still Believe."

As far as I'm concerned, Tim is the only reason to watch the movie more than once.
The scene does have its over-the-top aspects: smoke, chains, head-banging surfers, incessant gyrating, and of course, all that body oil.  It's been heavily-lampooned, most recently by Jon Hamm on Saturday Night Live, but I don't care, and I don't imagine that it bothers Tim much, either.
Judge for yourself. Watch the YouTube video clip at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDrTT5KbJfc
From 1984-1999, Tim was featured in Tina Turner's band. In 1997, I had a chance to see him in the flesh, at a Tina Turner concert in Salt Lake City. I guess Tina was there somewhere on the stage, but I can't remember noticing anything about her.
And, here he is from the back.
What is it that attracts men to the leopard-skin loincloth? Here's Tim in the requisite caveman outfit.  You Tim.  Me Jane.

Boy Crazy

I was ten years old when I first heard the term "boy crazy."  Mrs. Hansen, my 5th grade teacher, was describing a classmate, Linda, and was warning my mother that Linda had exerted a bad influence over me. I don't remember the rest of their conversation, because I was busy thinking: a) I didn't need Linda to point out that boys were interesting, and b) what's "crazy" about being interested in boys?
Flash forward 55 years, and my friend Carol and I are standing in front of the coffee house where our poetry group meets.  Carol uses the term "man crazy."  Suddenly, I'm transported back to 5th grade and realize that I am--as the song goes--"still crazy after all these years."

This month's blog posts are dedicated to crazy-generating men. Let's begin with two obvious choices.
Top: Unidentified man featured on a postcard from someone in Russia who calls himself "The Siberian."
Above & below: Rugby player Sacha Harding, recently chosen as Britain's "Manliest Man."
Although Sacha has been featured in several gay magazines and blogs, he is straight. Here's a link to an interview with him: http://www.seattlegayscene.com/2011/11/ben-cohen-dethroned-sacha-harding-is-now-our-uk-athletecrush-object-straight-hairy-stud-of-choice.html
Stay tuned the rest of the month for some more "craziness," including some not-so-obvious choices.
